This is the final post in a review of the Center, TX gun show on March 24, 2013, promoted by G & S Gun Shows. Links to the two prior segments of the review (covering firearms, ammo, and other major categories) are provided below.

Part I

Part II

I will complete the review with the final two categories in this post.

There were two actual businesses at the show selling optics. Taking Care of Business took time away from a lunch break to give me an overview of their business.  Their multi-table layout included an NcStar Rubber Armored Mark III scope for $180.  Unfortunately, I seem to have misplaced the business card from the other vendor.

Arkansas Quartermaster (listed in the next section) also sold optics.

Arkansas Quartermaster was one of the more interesting vendors at the show.  I liked a lot of stuff in their layout and kind of wished I had not just come back from vacation with very little $$$ in my pocket.  They sold NcStar rifle cases in the $20 to $23 range, safety glasses for $5, shooter’s glasses with attached ear protection for $15, NcStar Red Dots for $39, a laser red dot for $75, and a light/laser combo for $99. Other items included VISM first responder bags for $30, a VISM tactical backpack for $30, some pink cammo t-shirts for $10, and boonie hats for $10.

Another vendor that caught my eye was a small family operation.  They offered a variety of clothing items, but I zeroed in on the Bright Shot targets.  They offered 15 targets for $10, and you could mix-and-match targets and colors.  I chose a combo of skeleton and zombie targets in three different colors.  Perfect timing since I’m down to my last two zombie targets at home 🙂

Another ‘unnamed’ vendor filled three tables full of fishing gear.

The NRA had a table at the show.

Judy Sublette was the Scentsy vendor.

Big John’s Custom Duck Calls looked interesting, although I don’t hunt so I can’t comment on the calls.

I really enjoyed talking with Double Steel Safe & Vaults.  I’m in the market for a closet safe for my apartment and it’s going to be a bit of a challenge to get exactly what I want in the necessary size.  I really liked Double Steel’s handout price sheets.

Overall, the show exceeded my expectations for a small, local show, especially the venue.  On the other hand, there was nothing of sufficient interest to draw me to a repeat visit, especially looking at a round-trip drive in excess of seven hours.  The location is not close enough to the interstate to combine with a drive to another location, so it was an okay-to-review-once, but I probably won’t be returning.

If, however, Center is a reasonable drive for you, then this show may very well be worth a visit.
